I am an educator and music technology engineer with a joint Ph.D. in Music Technology (University of Oslo) and Computer Science (University of Lorraine). I hold a master's degree in Music Technology from New York University, and two bachelor's degrees in Music and Computer Engineering from the University of Jordan.

Building high-quality Arab maqam music through generative AI, machine translation, and motion capture.

Before beginning my doctoral studies, I taught for eight years as a permanent lecturer in Music Technology at the University of Jordan, where I was tenured in 2020. I have also taught undergraduate and master's-level courses in Computer Science at the University of Lorraine, France. My dissertation, Tarab and AI: Maqam Music Generation through Machine Translation and Motion Capture, examines how machine translation and motion-capture methods can inform the generation and perception of Arab maqam music.

My research centers on the design and development of high-quality Arab maqam music using generative AI. I apply natural language processing techniques to AI-based music composition and work on audio and music signal processing more broadly. My most recent work experiments with industry-led large language models for underrepresented musical practices. I share this work through teaching, performance, and multimedia presentation.
